About Us
Ocean Lanka
Ocean Lanka started with a love for the sea and a dream of making Kalpitiya’s natural beauty accessible to everyone. From humble beginnings as a small dive team, we’ve grown into one of the region’s most trusted operators for diving, safaris, and water-based adventures. Today, we proudly offer a full range of experiences—from scuba diving and snorkeling to whale watching, kitesurfing, kayaking, and wildlife safaris—each designed to showcase the best of Sri Lanka’s coast and beyond.
What makes us different is our hands-on, personal approach. We keep our groups small, our equipment top-notch, and our guides trained to international standards, so you can explore with complete peace of mind. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned explorer, Ocean Lanka is your gateway to Kalpitiya’s wonders—safe, sustainable, and unforgettable.

Shanaka
My name is Shanaka, and I’m 39 years old, originally from Kudawa, Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka. My journey into diving began in 2005 as a young commercial diver, guided and inspired by my father, who was my hero and mentor. He always told me, “Find your own way,” a lesson that shaped my career and approach to life.
In 2007, I transitioned from commercial diving to PADI recreational diving, earning my Open Water certification. Over the years, I have grown steadily within the PADI system and am now a certified PADI Instructor (OWDI). With over 150,000 dives logged, I have developed extensive experience in marine life, underwater ecosystems, and dive training.
Outside the diving season, I work as a tour guide, sharing the natural and cultural beauty of Sri Lanka. I specialize in bird watching, mangrove and lagoon tours, traditional fishing experiences, and visits to historical sites. Working with European and international guests has been a rewarding part of my career, allowing me to share my knowledge and passion for the ocean and Sri Lankan nature.
I am married with three children, and my goal is to continue inspiring others to explore the underwater world safely while appreciating marine conservation.
